Beer in St.Gallen
Home of Switzerland’s oldest brewery
St.Gallen is a beer mecca. Brauerei Schützengarten was founded in 1779, which makes it Switzerland’s oldest brewery. The beers enjoy international renown and frequently win major beer awards. Our whole region is a brewery. Countless microbreweries have sprung up in recent years, contributing to the region’s unique diversity of beers.
Local breweries
The region is home to a large number of breweries that produce both traditional and innovative beers. Visit local breweries, sample beer at beer tastings and learn more about the brewing process directly from the master brewer. Enjoy St.Gallen’s unique atmosphere and its rich and varied beer culture.
The «Kloster & Bier» (Monastery and Beer) experience from RheinWelten (Rhine Experiences)
The Abbey District of St.Gallen, with its baroque cathedral and the Abbey Library, is a unique cultural site. The famous ninth-century plan of the monastery – just one of the many attractions – even features three breweries.
