Wine in St.Gallen
A wealth of wine from the Rhine Valley
On the steep slopes high above Lake Constance – lush and green in summer, colourful in autumn and magically snow-covered in winter – more than 20 grape varieties, each distinct in character, grow and thrive. The wine-growers here are rightly very proud of their wines. The Verein Rheintalwein (the Rhine Valley Wine Association) is made up of 25 growers, who learn from each other and develop new, exquisite wines together. Discover the wide variety of wines in St.Gallen!
Regional wines in St.Gallen
The varied landscape of the canton of St.Gallen allows its 30 wine-growing communities to grow an amazing array of grape varieties. These range from classics such as Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau to trendy, fungus-resistant varieties such as Cabernet Jura and Johanniter. Our region’s highly trained wine-makers harness the area’s natural advantages to produce wines that can easily hold their own against competition from around the globe.
