Four Countries Tour

Lake views, mountain vistas, idyllic harbour towns and culture: you can pack all of this into the Four Countries Tour. The tour takes you from Switzerland to Austria and Germany and, after a short detour to Liechtenstein, back to St.Gallen. Be sure to stop off in Lindau, Bregenz and Vaduz!

Cities with panoramic views of Lake Constance and the Alps

The Four Countries Tour starts in St.Gallen and takes you along Lake Constance to the Austrian border at Bregenz. The capital of Vorarlberg Bregenz is a place of opposites. It has the relaxed rhythm of a small town (there are only 28,000 inhabitants) but a vibrant cultural scene that can match that of any city in the world. After a stroll through the old town along the lakeshore, the tour continues into Germany, to the island of Lindau in Lake Constance. The harbour entrance, featuring the Bavarian lion and the lighthouse, is a well-known landmark of Bavaria’s most south-eastern city. Behind it, you can see the impressive view of Lake Constance and the Alps. The tour then heads back to Switzerland and on through the Rhine Valley to the fourth and final country: the Principality of Liechtenstein. Vaduz Castle is the main attraction here. Visible from afar yet seemingly close enough to touch, this landmark sits regally on a rocky terrace above the town, accessible via a romantic footpath. After the castle visit, the tour ends back where it started, in St.Gallen.
