Altenrhein market hall - Hundertwasser architecture

Altenrhein market hall - Hundertwasser architecture
With the Markthalle Altenrhein, Friedensreich wanted to create a contrast to the straight, colorless world. A paradise where there are no limits to creativity. A source of inspiration where people like to stay longer.
Gilded onion domes, bright colors, curved lines, uneven windows, uneven floors, colorful ceramic columns, shady walkways. A fairytale castle in the middle of an industrial area. An excursion destination, museum, gallery, store and event venue under one roof, topped by four shining golden domes. The Markthalle Altenrhein is an architectural project based on the idea and concept of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The only one of its kind to be built in the whole of Switzerland. It is located in the immediate vicinity of Lake Constance, the city of St. Gallen, the Appenzellerland and directly on the international Lake Constance cycle path.
