Rorschach

Idyllic harbour town

Enjoy time out on Lake Constance! The pretty harbour town of Rorschach, in the southernmost bay of Lake Constance, is a Mediterranean holiday dream. The Kornhaus is the town's landmark and was built in the 18th century as a granary. Rorschach thus became the most important trading town for grain traders from southern Germany. Today, the Kornhaus houses a museum that attracts numerous visitors every year with its pile-dwelling models. Guests can also indulge in nostalgia at the Rorschach bathhouse. The wooden bathing establishment from 1924 stands on pillars in the lake and is still in operation today. Wonderful bicycle and boat trips can be made from Rorschach. Tips include the nature reserve near the old Rhine or along the Swiss shores and a trip across Lake Constance to attractive excursion and leisure destinations.

Every year in August thousands of visitors flock to the Rorschach lake promenade which is transformed into a giant sandbox. At the traditional sand sculpture festival, international artists provide insight into their work and create transient works of art from this unorthodox material.
