Wäbchäller (Weaving cellar) by Helen Niederer

Wäbchäller (Weaving cellar) by Helen Niederer
Hand weaver and hostess
In the "Wäbchäller" of the almost 300-year-old house Oberdorf 9, in the middle of Bühler, two handlooms have been standing for 25 years. In the 18th and 19th centuries, weaving took place in this house, as in 236 other houses in Bühler. Today, the weaver's shuttle flies back and forth again and it "chleps" as it used to. Textiles such as towels, table linen and shopping bags with different patterns and colours are made from natural materials. In the cosy house with lots of charm, there are also two double rooms, cosy spots in the garden and a lounge with TV for guests. The BnB is located in the middle of Appenzellerland and is the starting point for tours in the Alpstein or for excursions to Lake Constance and the textile city of St. Gallen.
