Unterer Brühl

Unterer Brühl
The park near the Tonhalle
The large meadow, which was acquired from the monastery in 1549 by the local citizens' municipality in an exchange deal, served the citizens as a common land, which they used as sheep pasture, as a grain field, for growing potatoes, as a children's playground, market place and as a military drill ground. After 1860, the area became too small as a military training ground. As a replacement, the military received the Kreuzbleiche area. The 3,511 m² Untere Brühlpark was given its present form in connection with the construction of the underground car park extension in 2006. With the long and seven-meter-high, planted trellis construction, the generous lawns and the horticultural design of flower beds, the "Untere Brühl" becomes a veritable "Clay Hall Garden". The front area of the Talhof and Blumenau schools is defined by the sports and break area.
