Off to the sunny region of Switzerland! As the most beautiful connection between north and south, the Treno Gottardo runs in cooperation with the SBB from the north directly to Locarno in the south. On the journey over the legendary Gotthard panorama route, passengers are offered Swiss history and breathtaking views. This makes the journey itself a destination. There's plenty to see along the way.
Places of interest:
- The international tourist metropolis of Lucerne with numerous sights such as the Chapel Bridge or the Lion Monument.
- Lake Lucerne with its large fleet of steamboats
- The capital of Uri, Altdorf, with the world-famous Tell monument
- The Gotthard panorama route, opened in 1882, with the famous church of Wassen, which can be seen from three different perspectives
- The Leventina with spectacular excursion destinations: with one of the steepest funiculars in the world to Lago Ritom and the Strada Alta or with the gondola to Lago Tremorgio
- The castles of Bellinzona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000
- Locarno with its vibrant Piazza Grande, Lake Maggiore and the famous pilgrimage church of Madonna del Sasso
