St.Leonhardspark

St.Leonhardspark
St. Leonhardspark is an urban square with French flair. Here people meet to play bocce, to talk, to be under lime trees.
The 3,511 m² square plot between the school building and St. Leonhard-Strasse was designed around 1880 according to the English model as part of the Davidbleiche neighborhood planning. Planned as a "square", it was rebuilt in 1955 so that it could also be used as a children's playground. Today, the park presents itself in its original sense. The central water basin has been preserved. The square is generously designed, with a continuous gravel surface that can be used in a variety of ways. The northern end is planted as the park entrance towards St. Leonhard-Strasse with a double row of trimmed linden trees, forming a green roof. The inner-city area serves a variety of uses and the students of the adjacent St. Leonhard schoolhouse as an outdoor space during breaks.
