Museum Montlingen and Montlingerberg

Already more than 3000 years ago, trade was conducted across the Alps.
In the museum there are numerous exhibits of the Melaun culture. In addition, it is possible to admire findings of the original Raetians who settled at that time, which were discovered during the excavations of a hilltop settlement. Among other things, one can find artistically formed ceramics (Melauner pot), vessels of the Urnfield culture, bronze jewelry (ca. 1300-800 BC), tools, a Roman coin pot (ca. 230-270 AD; with 13 of the original 1500 coins) and finds from the excavations in the parish church of St.Johann Baptist.
It is recommended to combine the museum visit with a short hike to the ramparts (approx. 20 min.) on the Montlingerberg.
