The drive through Appenzellerland or Toggenburg awakens anticipation of the natural beauty of the Säntis. Schwägalp, the starting point of the Säntis cable car, is accessible all year round via well-cleared roads. It takes 10 minutes to glide to the summit, with views over six countries, Lake Constance and the Alps. In bad weather, the indoor adventure world offers entertainment on weather, ice, geology and the history of the suspension railway. The Säntisgipfel restaurant serves Appenzell and Toggenburg specialties, as does the hotel restaurant. The Gasthaus Passhöhe on the pass road is ideal for a coffee break or a hearty fondue.
