Museum Neuthal Textile and Industrial Culture

Immerse yourself in the history of the people, buildings and technology that have shaped the Zurich Oberland and large parts of Switzerland.
The Neuthal Museum brings 200 years of textile and industrial culture back to life. The site of Adolf Guyer-Zeller's former spinning mill is now home to a museum with an important collection of functioning historical textile machines. The largely intact hydroelectric power plant takes visitors back to the early days of industrial power generation. In the spinning, weaving and embroidery exhibition areas, the process from the cotton bale to the finishing of a fabric can be experienced. Special exhibitions and events shed light on a wide range of topics relating to textiles, technology, energy and industrial culture in the past, present and future. The museum is open from May to October every Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Group tours are offered daily on request. Level-appropriate school offers for school classes available. Special exhibition until 26.10.25: “mode macht geld” The global fashion industry, my closet and me. What's in your closet? The exhibition shows the journey of clothing - from production to disposal - and sheds light on how fast fashion and the textile industry have influenced our fashion consumption since the 19th century.
