Muser Brothers / Dixa AG

Like many other buildings of the embroidery industry in the city of St.Gallen, the Musa Brothers company building was used in many ways over time.
History:
The “Muser Brothers” company had been active in embroidery production and export in St.Gallen since the 1870s. In 1899, the brothers had the building constructed on Stationsstrasse. The Muser brothers were both Belgian and US citizens, which illustrates the international nature of this industry. As a result of the decline of the embroidery industry, the Musers sold the buildings to an alarm clock factory, after which they were transferred to the Cantonal Bank and in 1933 the building was acquired by the “Dix” herbalist's shop. This developed into today's family business, Dixa AG.
Architecture:
The oldest part of the building to the south of the current site was designed by Wendelin Heene and built as an elongated exposed brick building, with large window fronts for embroidery. From 1902, the factory was rebuilt and extended several times.
Current use:
The company, now in its fourth generation and run by the Dix and Wild families, processes medicinal herbs, herbs and spices from all over the world.
