Natural History Museum St.Gallen
On an area of 2,000 m², the Nature Museum St.Gallen offers young and old discoveries in the local animal and mineral world. The open exhibition presentation with walk-through room pictures invites visitors to become active themselves - now also with the digital museum guide in three languages.
In the center is the largest landscape relief in Switzerland of the cantons of St.Gallen and both half cantons of Appenzell with the diverse animal world between Lake Constance and Ringelspitz. In the bear forest you can discover the native large carnivores, but also the industrious ant colony as well as the cave bear from the Wildkirchli. The top floor invites visitors on a journey through the evolutionary history of life: the most important exhibit is the well-preserved original skeleton of a duck-billed dinosaur. But technical inventions modeled on nature and the sustainable use of resources are also a topic. Those fascinated by crystals will find what they are looking for in the artificial rock landscape.
In addition, three special exhibitions on selected nature themes are presented each year. In addition to two children's trails and seasonally changing discovery tours, the trilingual digital museum guide has also enriched the offer since this year. It guides visitors through the permanent exhibition with a knowledge tour and four play tours and offers exciting learning and play experiences. The museum café with garden terrace and the museum park, where numerous fossil casts can be discovered, offer a fitting end to the visit.
