Mötteli castle and pond

Together with the parish church of Untereggen, the Möttelischloss (Sulzberg Castle) is the most impressive building on the territory of the municipality of Untereggen
The older name of the castle, "Sulzberg", goes back to the Constance ministerial dynasty of Sulzberg. This named itself after the castle Sulzberg south of Kempten (Germany), from where the Sulzbergers demonstrably originated. The more recent and today more common name "Möttelischloss" is derived from the Mötteli family. Members of this rich and well-known merchant family inhabited the castle for a longer period of time in the 15th and 16th centuries.
