Cultural Museum St.Gallen

The name combines the three core disciplines of the museum: archaeology, history and ethnology.

The museum's collection includes objects from prehistory and early history up to the 20th century as well as numerous objects from different cultures of the world. Several temporary exhibitions are held annually. Regular events take place in the central courtyard, including the St.Gallen Culture Festival. The children's museum on the top level is one of the most popular sections.

The local citizens' municipality of St.Gallen decided to build what was then the Historical and Ethnological Museum on June 28, 1914 - the day on which the First World War began. It was one of the last major projects of the embroidery boom. It opened on the 31st of March 1921.
